Mid-August blog sampler

Before my collection of work on world events and politics, here’s a sweet beginning to this week’s TMA blog. Nadia Gilchrist at Ruby Slipper Astrology has weekly forecasts for each sign. As part of the week’s Overview, she writes: “The Sun enters Virgo on August 22nd and the focus shifts to the micro level. What’s wrong? What’s missing? How can it be improved?”

Linea Van Horn’s blog does a masterful job of explaining the astronomy, myths, and star patterns of this exceptional time in The Galactic Embrace: You and 2012 at Daykeeper Journal.  “We are in one of these rare phases RIGHT NOW when the Winter Solstice Sun aligns with the Galactic Center. You can check this for yourself by using a handy “Precessional Dial,” a tool I put together to help myself understand the mechanics of precession.” (You can even download her “Precessional Dial” tool as a PDF.)

Jude Cowell looks to the November eclipses and the USA election at Stars Over Washington. “With all eclipses behaving in Uranian fashion as ‘wild cards of the Universe’ and thus having a reputation for uncovering even the darkest of secrets, we may expect November 2012 to be revelatory for its unmasking of Scorpionic secrets with a distinct potential for betrayals and suspicion that, when used in political propaganda, may have the effect of swaying voters in one direction or another.”

Linda Schurman’s monthly blog at Soothesayer thoughtfully covers politics, the economy, and world events. This month she concludes: “My take is that we must learn to embrace the lights in the sky that tell us what is to come; the end of the predator-prey society; a humanity of greater intelligence, living sustainably in concert with nature, and winning its connection to itself through great inspired acts of sacrifice and love. The time has come.”

Nancy Sommers at Starlight News Blog writes on Romney and Ryan in her newest piece, The Fog of Bromance. “…..Romney and his gang are pounding the pavement with so many distortions and dodges and so much dissembling that it continues to be difficult to discern what they are really talking about. And, of course, that is the goal.”

Paul Saunders at Solaris Astrology looks at the horoscope for modern Russia (1991) and the Pussy Riot trial. “Transiting Uranus, the planet of protest and rebellion, is now exactly to the Russian Nodal Axis, showing a turning point and a moment of fate for those who wish to overthrow the old guard and fight for new fresh values.”

The Astrology News Service has many fine articles. Here’s an interview by Edward Snow with Nina Gryphon, one of the five astrologers on the presidential election panel at UAC in New Orleans.

And a wonderful interview with Armand Diaz, author of Integral Astrology. The title: Scholar Describes Integral Role for Astrology in Dynamic New Paradigm That is Emerging in Western Civilization.

Also, a review of a recent book from Nick Campion: Astrology and Cosmology in the World’s Religions.

Ed Tamplin’s Weekly Horoscope looks at Julian Assange and the long imprisoned “forgotten man,” Bradley Manning. “Manning’s evolving horoscope reveals his progressing Sun squaring judicial Jupiter in 2013. The solar arcing Jupiter also opposes his military Mars, as judgmental Saturn comes to aspect his own Jupiter. Even the transiting Jupiter will oppose the prisoner’s Sun by mid 2013…..This emphasis on the judicial process in 2013 suggests that the Obama administration will try and postpone Manning’s trial until the election is done and dusted. And Manning too will mirror the Uranus-Pluto principle of individual against Big Brother.”

Curtis Manwaring uses Hellenistic techniques (i.e., zodiacal releasing, time lords, the lot of acquisition) in his very interesting and detailed study of Election 2012 – Obama vs Romney and Beyond.

Anthony Louis, who wrote an excellent book, Horary Astrology, posts a blog delineating a horary chart. “On 13 April 2012 at 9:18 a.m. I decided to use only the traditional planets and Regiomontanus houses and asked, ‘Who will win in November, Obama or Romney?’”

There is a delineation of the Romney and Ryan composite chart at Mundane Astrologers. Among its features: the Sun on the Ascendant in Pisces opposite Pluto in the 7th house, and the Moon in Scorpio (conjunct Neptune and Jupiter) in the 9th. As part of An Informed Prediction, the author writes: “From my admittedly biased perspective this ticket lacks the clarity to reach its goals. The continual reference to restlessness combined with confusion over ideology will muddle not only the message to the public, but within the campaign itself.” (This site has lots of good information and discussions about the different U.S. horoscopes.)

Okay, that should keep everybody busy for a while. Have a great week, one and all.
