New Moon week

Happy New Moon day, everyone. I have a collection of blogs from different perspectives — most are pointing to the qualities and perceptions emphasized now with the lunation in the sign of Virgo, and there are a few mundane analyses for the brave to ponder.

I appreciate being able to bring such a variety of writers into TMA‘s world, especially now, perhaps. My own view feels temporarily engulfed in Mars and Saturn — very slow and very quiet. I seem to be called into some not quite familiar valley that feels mysterious and private and secluded. It will pass!

In the meantime, love to one and all. Enjoy these helpful and wise writers and what they have conjured up for this New Moon week.

Let’s start with Emily Trinkaus of virgo magic. She writes Desire and Discernment — Mars Meets Saturn at Monday’s Virgo New Moon: “Mercury forms a precise sextile – 60-degree angle of excitation – to the Mars-Saturn conjunction, increasing the magical healing mojo of this New Moon. The Virgoan superpowers of discernment, refinement, synthesis, and analysis can be applied to the Mars-Saturn mandate to clarify your desires and get strategic about pursuing them.”

Molly Hall at About Astrology titles her entry Virgo New Moon — August 25th, 2014: Purify Thyself. “So with this Virgo lunation, we enter the zone of decontamination from all that’s wafted and streamed through. It’s a lunar re-set, to redeem your sanity. What are ways to sanitize your life? The answer to that lies in questions like, “What’s cluttering up my life?”  or “What’s toxic to my body, spirit, and mind?”

New Moon Call and Response from TMA‘s Dana Gerhardt’s column at MoonCircles: “Call Virgo and she’ll appear with the fresh grace of a virgin. This goddess wants nothing, is attached to nothing, and fears nothing. She walks the ripening fields, knowing that when the Harvest Moon rises, round as a pumpkin above the waiting barns, it’s harvest time. Her eyes are honest and appraising. The smallest details can’t escape her.”

Jessica Shepherd at Moonkissed calls her blog Virgo New Moon: Humble Harvest. “To flow with Virgo New Moon, take a few humble steps towards making your world a more perfect place. Streamline your life routines, organise your sock drawer, clean up your diet (Virgo New Moon is a great time to begin new health regimes), thank the invisible ones (farmers, service workers) who make your life easier, appreciate your pets…  Be humble: we have such a limited time on this Earth. No matter how imperfect your life is, no matter all you yet don’t have, your life is a humble harvest. Be of service, in the way you are able. Then revel in that ability. Maybe the best thing any of us can do is to offer what we can.”

If you enjoy mundane analysis, please read Jude Cowell’s Virgo New Moon: At the White House. “The transiting midpoint picture of Saturn-Neptune = Pluto continues to affect society in negative fashion as many folks are feeling downtrodden while others in charge are busy denying their guilt. Added in the New Moon chart, thanks to the Mars-Saturn conjunction, are the potentials of this picture — Mars-Neptune = Pluto: dreams of violence (Ebertin). And this picture hints at America’s problematic Mars-Neptune square from July 4, 1776, with its deceptive or misguided actions quality and ‘fog of war’ implications. I would say, Here we go again, but we never left.”

Also, Nancy Sommers at Starlight News. For those unfamiliar with her work, Nancy Sommers delineates many charts with quite detailed astrology. From her current blog, Extremism Erupts (posted August 12):  “In astrology, Pluto is the planet that describes fanaticism. When its influence is strong, we see an increase of intransigent and brutal struggles for domination. Both sides of the conflict perceive the danger as overwhelming, needing to vigilantly oppose the enemy at all cost. This can lead to a drive for total control as a way to destroy any potential threat. When Pluto is a primary actor in geopolitical struggles, life becomes a zero sum game: kill or be killed, win or die. Such is the mood today in Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Syria, and now Iraq.”

Marina Macario at Darkstar Astrology also writes on today’s New Moon. The New Moon on August 25, 2014 is at 2º Virgo and falls within 2.5º of the royal star of Regulus, the heart of the Lion. This is significant because Regulus entered tropical Virgo from Leo on November 28, 2011. This is the first New Moon to hit Regulus since it changed signs.”

And, Enid Rosa, Agent 79 at C*I*A, offers New Moon in Virgo: Intention Mission Activation. “We are in a cosmic storm of energy. Wow, it is intense! Each one of us has to take responsibility for our own thoughts, emotions, and actions. With the New Moon in Virgo we can calm the storm and focus on self-love. We want to honor the seasons and cycles of life by creating time and space to honor life passages. Things must change or die in order for something else to come in. We are in transformation phase! As we boldly go through this cycle, it is important to stay focused on love and joy!”
