Today, February 21, 2024 the final day of a critical appeal against the extradition of Julian Assange to the U.S., is underway at London’s High Court of Justice.
Here are a few short notes about the matter and an up-to-date You Tube presentation by Susan Hopkinson which includes his natal chart with the U.S. and the CIA horoscopes.
For a bit of historical context: Here is our short piece from August 2, 2010 on the “publication on July 25 of the Afghan War Diary by WikiLeaks occurred within one day of Saturn’s last opposition to Uranus (exact on the 26th).”
There is much to say about the horoscope, but for now (wanting to get this posted asap) I will mention something that is not apparent in a wheel chart: There are a striking number of parallel and contra-parallel aspects in this chart: Mars 18°S58′, Jupiter 18°S41′, Neptune 18°S38′ declination; and Sun 23°N01′, Mercury 23°N09′, Venus 23°N02′ declination.
This bi-wheel is Assange’s natal and the progressed chart for December 7, 2010 the day of his initial arrest by the British police. You can see that progressed Midheaven had come 27° Virgo, conjunct natal Pluto.
On the day of his arrest, transiting Jupiter was at 24° and transiting Uranus at 26° Pisces. (They were exactly conjunct on January 7, 2011 at 27° Pisces.)
His hearing today is just prior to the Jupiter-Uranus conjunct on April 20, 2024 at 21° Taurus. The repeated presence of Jupiter and Uranus show that the collective theme of freedom the the press is reverberating powerfully at this moment and in Julian Assange’s life. (“Julian Assange’s case is the most important press freedom case in modern history @kennardmatt”)
And, Susan Hopkinson’s video:
There are many good resources for following the implications of the situation, particularly The Chris Hedges Report and on twitter — @Assange, @FreeAssange, @DoubleDownNews — among many others.

Thank you so much for this post, Mary. And to Mountain Astrologer for featuring.
Pluto’s long passage in Aquarius will most definitely highlight the shadow side of censorship and the absolute need for free speech to be protected.
great article Mary! I have followed this story for a long time and absolutely believe in free speech. The issue has been clouded in the past 2 years by the Press itself and their abrogation of the truth in reporting. I do not believe Julian should be prosecuted for his release of the facts. There are some things which need to be kept in secret but as long as our politicians themselves “leak” stuff to the press then the rest of us should be allowed the same freedom.
