The Aries Point: It’s All About Me

Saturday night I had a restless sleep, as I’m learning many others did as well. There was a triple conjunction — the Moon and Jupiter moved into Aries within an hour of each other and conjoined the rebel-rousing, agitating, unnerving Uranus.

I was anxious because I had been (surprisingly) asked to speak at the Unity Church service here in Ashland on Sunday morning. The pastor, Norma Nakai Burton, was speaking on the 11th century mystic, Hildegard of Bingen. Having a keen appreciation of astrology, she asked me to address the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction briefly.

I did it. It was a stretch. I work mostly alone, or with people one-on-one and in small groups. But with the stirring energy of the Aries planets overhead, I said “yes” to the invitation to try to capture a bit of the zeitgeist for this community.

Once I relaxed a bit (with the help of Rescue Remedy and lavender oil), I was able to just let the words come. And, surprise, it was fun. It was a deep pleasure to speak the language of the stars to a new group. We astrologers do have something to say that is helpful — especially now, when our faith (Jupiter) in the future (Uranus) may need polishing.

So, dear friends, if I can step out of my self-image and try on a radically (Uranus) bigger (Jupiter) new identity (Aries), trust me, you can too.

I also had a giggle on the phone today with my 5-year old granddaughter.  Since she is a Cancer rising, with her progressed Midheaven at 3º Aries, and the progressed Moon at 0º30’ Aries, I figured she’d be a direct conduit for some Aries Point activity. I wasn’t disappointed. She has just decided what she wants to be when she grows up: “A baby-sitter, an ice cream scooper, a ballerina, and a cowgirl.”

May we all listen to our wildest dreams and let our imaginations guide us toward the best possible outcome as we steal a bit of fire from the gods to help carry us all onwards and upwards.

  1. If you can stand the explosion of sheer ego, this will be a fun summer!

  2. Well…if you were using the sidereal zodiac, you could say that Pisces is the archetypal Christian-religion sign (as the Pisces age is the period of Christianity), so in my opinion, I find it hardly surprising that Mary spoke in a church where the main topic was an 11th century mystic… And as to Mary’s advice about listening to our wildest (Uranus)-dreams (Pisces) and letting our imagination (Pisces) guide us towards the best possible outcome..it all sounds very Piscean to me. Pisces is all about surrender to the divine will…So maybe it’s not all about me?? And maybe the conjunction was in Pisces?? If you pay attention to the archetypal symbolism, it certainly seems that Mary could be not just stepping out of the apparent Aries self image…maybe it was surrendering to divine will (Pisces).

  3. Mary – i’m thrilled you spoke at Unity! Your words here are so helpful, your presence so sane and calm – i’m sure they loved you! I go to a Unity church – makes sense to me that they’d tune in to the vibe – especially in Ashland!

I think this is a great opportunity for all of us. I wrote about it in my blog tonight. You and I are opposites. Ms. Aquarian here had her eye on the collective when it suddenly occurred to me, no! wait! this is about ME too! Funny how we approach things from own charts, eh – and I have 3 planets in Aquarius, Uranus conj ASC & Trine sun and north node in the 11th – send me your teeming masses.

Love your granddaughter’s career goals – I say go get ’em!

  4. Always enjoy your commentary. I hope I manage with these transits. No problem with my natal chart, but my progressed chart has 1 degree Libra rising and Sun in @ 3 degrees Cancer. I am a little concerned about Pluto in early Capricorn and the 3 Aries planets being rough on my progressed chart.

  5. Hi Keith,

    I am a tropical Pisces Sun…(Aquarius sidereal)

    Thanks for the nice comments..

    Mary

  6. Hi Diane,

Thanks..yes, the Unity congregation here is very open..

About my granddaughter – I especially got a kick out of the “ice cream scooper” as she is Sun c Venus in Taurus!!

    Thanks for writing..

    Where do you live?
    Mary

  7. Hi Tony,

Thanks for saying you appreciate my comments..I’m just getting used to writing so much about my personal life..
I used to write more on the mundane picture, which I still watch closely..but lately I’ve been noticing that some people like the personal too

    Take care..

    Mary

  8. Love the personalized writing, makes the astrology easier to comprehend in an applicable way.

Nice demonstration of your Pisces Sun shining as you harness the transiting Aries energies.

That’s the beauty of astrology, it works, in tropical and sidereal.

“May we all listen to our wildest dreams and let our imaginations guide us toward the best possible outcome as we steal a bit of fire from the gods to help carry us all onwards and upwards.”

Wonderful message for these times. Thank you.

Oh yes, and it’s nice getting to know you, too.
    Sandra

  9. Thanks for your response Mary. A lifetime of surviving challenging aspects makes me sense that possibly they bring the necessary changes one needs, not necessarily designed to just make one suffer. I am a multi Taurus with Leo rising just speculating on the relative importance of my progressed chart. The back story is interesting.

  10. Thanks. I also wanted to add to the restlessness. The day you posted, June 7 was like a big kick start day for me. The energy wasn’t so positive on that day.

Good for you though, in a positive sense. That helps.

  11. Good for you, Mary! I love and respect your work.

I’m on “pins and needles” as Jupiter and Uranus are now transiting my Aries 2 degrees Moon conjunct Mars. And,natally, my Aries Moon/Mars conjunction form a grand fire trine to Uranus in the 7th (now aspected by Venus, and today, Moon), trine to a 10th house Saturn.

I have lived in New Mexico for a whole Jupiter cycle, and my dreams have been repeatedly thwarted and blocked. I am very hopeful that this powerful Jupiter/Uranus conjunction heralding in the Aries point WILL make a positive difference. Do you see it?

Bless you granddaughter. Help her keep the creative stirring in her life. I’m sure you do.

    Thank you.
